From September 20 to 27th, at an exhibition stand of around 60 square meters at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover the Preh Group presented the innovations that could find their way into the truck cockpit in the future. A team of about ten people from Bad Neustadt and Preh Car Connect from Dresden was in action, the company announced.
This year’s focus: the so-called Touch Control Button. These multifunction switches built into the steering wheel are a recent development by a Preh GmbH and Daimler cooperation and goes into series production with the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz Actros truck.
The new feature allows to control all infotainment functions while keeping both hands on the wheel. This is possible by a touch technology that reacts to horizontal and vertical wiping movements of the thumb. "The integration of this control element will make trucks even safer and more comfortable in the future," says Michael Jendis, Head of the Commercial Vehicle HMI Division at Preh GmbH.
In Hanover, Preh Car Connect's colleagues from Dresden showed how vehicles already network with each other or communicate with other traffic components such as traffic lights. This "Connectivity Box" should become even faster and safer in the future.
Preh presented its products for the second time at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover. Since 2014, the Commercial Vehicle HMI activities at Preh have been combined in a separate product area.
